I like to smell good. I like the things around me to smell good. And I’ve always loved scents. The way a spring breeze tickles your nose on the perfect days in Atlanta. The sweetness of dandelions. The bitter of magnolia. The greasy undertones of good fried chicken.
I’ve made my own cologne for years. And then Little Dog happened.
Little Dog is my friend Nikki’s terrier. Nikki would not be happy if I told you this but…Little Dog Stinks (Pause: Yes, the dog’s name is Little Dog AKA Little) . Little Dog could have a grooming visit on Monday and smell like hot garbage by Thursday (sorry Nikki, it’s true).
When Nikki was off cavorting at the grammys (yes, she is that cool). I was left with dog sitting the hyper active and pungent Little Dog. To dog sit Little Dog is to be like a sentinel; vigilant, poised, and ready for the enemies next attack.
Little Dog and I were sitting on the couch watching my favorite show, Weeds, on DVD .
I started to drift into a late afternoon, post lunch siesta when…BHAM….Little Dog made her move. She hurtled her little body into the bathroom. I heard a crash. A yelp. And by the time I made it back to the commotion Little Dog was covered in Baby Powder (and laughing).
I picked up the broken bottles and busted lotions. And then I went to dust off the dog. And for the first time I could remember, Little Dog A.K.A. Little A.K.A. Whiny McWhimper, smelled good GREAT!
And it hit me. Pet Perfume. Dogs and Cats and Puppies and Kitties should smell good too. And it should be safe. And eco-friendly. And I could make the world a little better, more fragrant, happier.
So I went into the lab. And with the help of my Aunt Linda, who is a chemical engineer, and the kind people at Scents N’ Suds we developed Smelly Pet All Natural Pet Perfume.
And we have made a fantastic products. I really believe it is the best stuff on the market. Here’s why:
1. We don’t use alcohol (like other products) which is very bad for your dog’s coat and skin. All of our sprays are water based, and thus healthier.
2. Most products use chemicals and ingredients that the average person just does not understand. Smelly Pet uses 3 ingredients; Distilled Water, Our Fragrance Blend (made mostly from all natural oils), and Guar Gum, an emulsifier. So your pet can lick themselves without you having to worry about them getting sick.
3. We care about the environment and sustainability. We’ve take the lessons from Cradle to Cradle design and our packaging is either easily recycled or made from post-consumer recycled goods.
4. Our perfume just smells the best. The smell last for hours. And we have six different fragrances; So Fresh N’ So Clean, Little’s Baby Powder, Strawberry Cream, Spicy Pumpkin, Channel 5, and Vanilla. I believe so much in this product that I started the Smelly Pet 110% Challenge.
